RETAIL AND VISITOR SERVICE ASSOCIATE

Threshold Arts is seeking supplemental Retail and Visitor Service Associates to support the growth of our organization and the activation of the Chateau Theatre. Associates will be cross-trained in visitor service, special event operations at the Chateau Theatre, and our retail storefront and gallery. You will provide customer service, assist in a variety of event roles, and maintain daily operations and security for the spaces. The pace and volume of our work varies, and every day is different. JOB TYPE: Supplemental, (flexible, part-time)
SALARY: $15/hour, paid monthly (1099 contract employee)
DEADLINE: Ongoing

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Welcome and engage with guests as they enter the store/gallery/theatre.

  • Assessing visitors’ needs and offering suggestions to meet their needs.

  • Provide support for events, and programs as needed, including: set-up and tear-down, general cleaning, event supervision and security, basic technology assistance, customer service, and hospitality.

  • Familiarize themselves with member artists and their work, the history of the Chateau Theatre, the work of our organization, and community places of interest - in order to provide information and recommendations to visitors.

  • Working with cash registers and processing payments (we use Square for retail).

  • Cleaning and restocking the retail space throughout the day, before opening, and after closing.

  • Support our team with general administrative tasks which may include social media, website support, photographing work, store design, inventory, etc. 

  • Assist with special projects and research as assigned. 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in customer service oriented industry. Enthusiastic, and energetic with a genuine desire to provide outstanding service. 

  • Evening and weekend availability is a requirement.

  • Ability to multitask, while being attentive to customers/visitors and remaining flexible to the needs of the store/theatre.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail. 

  • Ability to work positively with others and thrive in a demanding, fast-paced, and rapidly-changing environment. 

  • Self-motivated, empathetic, creative, forward-thinker open to creating new strategies to enhance the experience in our retail space.

  • Must be able to anticipate operational needs, discern work priorities, and meet goals with minimal supervision. 

  • Additional skill sets and interests are preferred, such as marketing, photography, social media, website, event coordination, etc. 

  • This position involves constant moving, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing and standing for at least two consecutive hours. May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, crouching and climbing ladders. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
