Annie Johnson

Annie Johnson of Unmuted Threads is a creator in every aspect of her life. Even in her roles as a nurse practitioner and current PhD candidate at the UMN, she finds ways to create. These professional roles—along with her most important role as a parent, raising three boys with her husband—make art an absolute necessity in Annie’s life. It’s life-giving.

Annie is relentlessly passionate about justice, especially social justice, and the messages on her pieces reflect that. However, she knows it’s not always easy to raise your voice in protest. The goal of her art is to embolden others to be loud about their beliefs without having to say a word.

Every clothing item from Unmuted Threads is resale, making each piece 100% unique while being more environmentally conscientious and avoiding big box stores. All pieces are created with screens Annie has made through the traditional photo emulsion process and printed with water-based inks.
